Privacy Policy
How we’re regulatedWhat we collect through this website, and what we don’t.
The short version: this site sets no cookies and runs no trackers. The only personal information you give us is what you type into the enquiry form.
This policy explains how Credible Finance & Mortgages Limited handles personal information collected through this website, as the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 requires. If it changes, we’ll update this page and the date above.
Who this policy is from
Credible Finance & Mortgages Limited (“Credible”, “we”, “us”), company number 9376463, a New Zealand company. We collect and hold the information described here. Our privacy officer can be reached at contact@credible.co.nz.
To confirm before go-live: a postal address for the company (a PO Box is fine). The Privacy Act requires the name and address of the agency collecting personal information, and none is on the site at the client’s request.
This policy covers this website. If you become a client, we’ll tell you separately how we handle the further information we collect then.
What we collect
What you type into the enquiry form: your name, your email address and your message, and, if you choose to give them, a phone number and the loan type you are asking about. Please keep account numbers and documents out of the form.
Our hosting provider also keeps ordinary server logs: the IP address, the page requested, the time and the browser. We don’t use them to identify you.
Everything we collect through this website comes from you.
Why we collect it
To answer your enquiry and, if you ask us to, to give you financial advice. Sending an enquiry does not put you on a mailing list; we only send marketing to people who have asked for it.
Giving us your details is voluntary. The form needs a name, an email address and a message; without them it won’t send, and we can’t reply. The contact page has other ways to reach us.
Who sees it
Your enquiry goes to the adviser who answers it. Our hosting and email providers handle it on our behalf, on servers that may be outside New Zealand; we remain responsible for it under the Privacy Act.
We pass information to a lender only if and when you ask us to arrange lending and you have agreed to that application. Otherwise we disclose it only where the law requires. We don’t sell it or give it to advertisers.
Cookies, tracking and spam checks
This website sets no cookies and loads nothing from other companies’ servers: no analytics, advertising tags, social media trackers or session recording.
The enquiry form has two spam checks: a hidden field that real people never fill in, and a check on how quickly the form was sent. To limit repeat submissions, the server also keeps a salted one-way hash of your IP address, not the address itself, for about an hour.
Storage and security
The site is served over HTTPS, so the form is encrypted on its way to us. Your enquiry is delivered by email to our mailbox; the website keeps no copy and has no database.
No system is completely secure. If a privacy breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner and you, as the Privacy Act requires.
How long we keep it
We don’t keep personal information longer than we need it for the purpose we collected it. The spam-check hash is dropped once it is an hour old.
To confirm before go-live: how long an enquiry that does not lead to an engagement is kept before it is deleted, and how long client records are kept, and how long the hosting provider keeps server logs. The page states no period until the client gives one.
Getting a copy, or correcting it
You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it. Email our privacy officer at contact@credible.co.nz. We’ll respond within 20 working days. If we decline a correction, we’ll attach a note of the correction you asked for to the information.
Complaints
If you think we’ve mishandled your personal information, tell our privacy officer first, at contact@credible.co.nz with “Privacy complaint” in the subject line, and we’ll look into it and reply. If you’re not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz or on 0800 803 909.
Complaints about our financial advice follow a different route, set out on our disclosure page.
