Work out your repayments.

An indicative figure, not a quote.

How to read it

The calculator does the arithmetic on the numbers you give it and nothing more. It is a guide to what repayments might look like, not a quote and not an assessment of what a lender will approve.

The rate
The starting rate is only an example. Most New Zealand home loans are fixed for one to five years at a time and re-fixed at the rate of the day, so no one can tell you the rate for the whole term.
The term
A longer term lowers each repayment and raises the total interest. The two totals under the figure show that trade-off.
Frequency
Weekly or fortnightly repayments reduce the total interest a little, because the balance comes down slightly sooner than it does with one payment a month.
What is left out
Fees, rate changes, and the way a lender tests an application: lenders assess you at a rate above the one they offer and count your living costs and other commitments, so the amount they approve is usually less than the amount this figure suggests you could repay.
Next step
When the numbers look workable, apply or talk to us. We check the figure against real lender criteria before anything is submitted.
